A recent survey by Civiqs, an online polling company, concerning Joe Biden’s popularity after only ten months in office is both shocking and alarming. It raises many questions that need to be answered.
The poll (see article article here) of 196,534 registered voters was conducted on November 27th, 2021, and showed Joe Biden to have only six states that gave him a favorability rating of 50% or more. An alarming 38 states gave him an unfavorable rating of 51% or less. Some states such as Wyoming gave him a low of 19% favorable rating and a off the charts unfavorable rating of 78%. What is most concerning is that Biden is quickly losing favor in places that have traditionally been very supportive of him like the northwest coast. Even in Oregon where he won easily just a year ago has slipped all the way down to a 50% unfavorable rating and with only 45% favorable rating.
What is seen in this most recent poll is that Biden is losing ground and popularity at an alarming rate very early in his Presidency. In the northeast, traditionally strong Democrat held states, Joe Biden now has higher unfavorable rating than favorable ratings in states like Maine, New Hampshire and Connecticut. Even in his home state of Delaware, he has an unimpressive approval rating of 51%. That is pathetic goodwill for a man who has been elected in that state for the last fifty years.
Though these numbers are staggering, it should be noted that he is proving to be extremely unpopular in other national polls as well. The Morning Consult poll recently showed that Joe Biden had lower popular numbers in side-by-side comparisons with every Governor in the nation.
Many analysists will discuss the reasons why he is so unpopular and the cause of such rancor among the voters, but there is an even greater issue which must be addressed. What is the role of the President, and why was the Executive Office created in the first place? The obvious answer is to have a leader and someone to perform the duty of overseeing an administration. The real problem that we are witnessing is that somewhere along the way a line seems to have been crossed that should have never been crossed, and the people are extremely unhappy about it. That’s what must be addressed.
The President was elected for this reason and this reason only, to serve the people. The Biden administration ignores that basic tenant of our government, and our reason for having a government. Our government was established to do what has never been done before, to create a government whose duties were to protect and serve the citizens. We established three branches of government to do this and gave the states the rights to do the same. Government meant servitude. People elected were “public servants.”
This goes to the heart of what we are witnessing, for at one time we had a leader, a king, who made it abundantly clear, the people were to serve him regardless of how they felt about his policies and decrees. The very reason why the United States of America was founded was to establish a new country, a new nation, a new people whereby our leaders served the public and did so according to certain rules and laws and rights that the people established to protect themselves. These were our Bill of Rights, they were not laws put on the people, but laws the people put upon the government that were not to be violated.
Because we set our terms for governance, America was unique, never before in the history of the world had people ever dictated to the government what the rules would be, it had always been the reverse, governments dictated to the people. So, what we are witnessing in our nation right now is the failure of the Biden administration to acknowledge this. They have flipped the roles to where they expect the people to serve those in power, to abide by their dictates regardless of whether we want to or not. The rolls have become reversed, we have gone backwards two-hundred and fifty years to a time where the “leader” dictates to the citizens what the “leader” wants rather than what the people want. This is a dictatorship not a democracy and certainly not a republic. Such actions are contrary to the most basic reasons why we have a government and why we elect leaders. Joe Biden in his arrogance has said that he is losing patience with the American people. What I suggest, and what we are seeing by these recent polling numbers is that the citizens are losing patience with him and his administration.
The question now, is what can be done about it?
To correct the problem, we must take action now and enact a new amendment to our constitution that will be a safeguard, protecting our nation and people from tyranny. What we are experiencing goes way beyond just a failure in policies, or in popularity, it is failure to uphold the principles upon which this nation stands. What must happen now is to correct the ship that has steered so far off course. To do this, it is essential, it is paramount, to establish the 28th amendment to the constitution that gives the citizens in their respected the states the authority to recall a President. By creating such an amendment, the President now, and all Presidents in the future will know who the ultimate commander in the country is. It is the people, and it is the people for whom the President will ultimately serve.
Throughout the long history of our great nation, amendments were enacted to improve our constitution, to right wrongs, and to correct injustices. Amendments were also added to protect the people, to make us stronger and more secure and even more free. Such a time is now.
